I believe the banking sector encourages job hopping even though they don't like employee attrition. Most people that job hop in the banking sector are the ones that have visible career growth. Those that remain in one bank become stagnated because the banking sector undervalue loyals. If an organisation is to discourage job hopping, then they should place some value on their employees.

There are sides to this coin. Employees should seek their best interest and employers can get really greedy, but it’s also unfair that Nigerian startups have to compete for Labour with foreign companies considering how less profitable the Nigerian market is.

Hmmm.... what exactly do you mean by unfair? If you want to keep your employees, you know what to do. A lot of the time, the increase in salary at the new job in not even much. There are other reasons why people leave.
