We need to stop thinking about subsidy removal as an economic problem. It only makes it a good idea on paper but completely ignores how an harebrained idea has endured for over 40 years. Solving it requires the kind of emotional intelligence that our leaders have glorified in not having while giving up some of the conduits of corruption that keeps them fat and happy. It also requires a realignment of critical sectors like transportation. A much longer response is headed to your email.
